Hounslow Council has officially agreed the name of the borough’s new ‘first citizen’ at a meeting of the Borough Council on Tuesday, 27th May,
Councillor Amy Croft, ward councillor for Chiswick Riverside was invested as Mayor of Hounslow, 2025/26 at the meeting.
During her year of office, in addition to raising funds for two charities - The Hogarth Youth and Community Centre and HYCS (Hounslow Youth Counselling Service) - Cllr Croft will undertake a variety of civic responsibilities, including chairing Borough Council meetings and attending and hosting events. The role is purely ceremonial, and the Mayor of Hounslow will act in a non-political way during their term.
Councillor Croft has been an elected member of the Council since May 2022.
She will be supported during her year of office by Councillor Junue Meah, ward member for Hounslow East, who was formally appointed Deputy Mayor for the year.
Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, said:
“I want to thank outgoing Mayor Councillor Karen Smith, for all she has done in her year of office, and to warmly welcome the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. I am certain they will carry out their roles with the same dedication and dignity as their predecessors and that they will be terrific ambassadors for our borough.
“I look forward to working closely them to achieve our ambitions and ensure that Hounslow remains a vibrant and inclusive place to live and work. Like the Cabinet, and members across the Council, they are committed to our One Hounslow, to fostering a thriving, safe, and sustainable community.”
