As London positions itself to be a beacon of growth and innovation, Hounslow is already at the forefront with its Opportunity Hounslow Business Case for Growth.
Hounslow’s strategic geographic and economic position makes it a unique, prime location for both existing and future investments. As the first London council to launch a comprehensive Business Case for Growth, Hounslow is driving innovation with targets of £33 billion in GVA and 18,000 jobs. Key areas of the Borough - often already vibrant, inclusive communities - are poised to benefit from transformative growth which offers a higher quality of life and a dynamic business environment.
Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, said,
Our proactive approach not only responds to today’s growth demands, and the Government’s national growth mission, but also strategically shapes the economic landscape of tomorrow. We are committed to creating accessible opportunities for all our residents, and enhancing their quality of life while driving forward our sustainable economic advancements.
The council’s leadership, strategic partnerships, and community-focused projects are all geared towards creating a borough that excels in economic vitality and social equity, ensuring Hounslow remains a competitive and desirable place to live, work, and invest.
Hounslow's primary growth sectors include advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, and green industries. The borough’s growth strategy capitalises on pivotal assets such as the Golden Mile, Feltham and proximity to Heathrow Airport and promises substantial community-wide benefits.
The West London Orbital (WLO) rail initiative is critical, enhancing borough-wide connectivity and bolstering key economic sectors such as technology, sustainable energy, and construction. This is set to catalyse significant business and infrastructure developments, contributing decisively to London’s overarching economic objectives.
The Golden Mile, expected to generate over 14,000 new jobs by 2041, is undergoing transformative development to bolster its historic strength in innovation and its burgeoning status as a creative and high-tech hub.
Additionally, strategic locations like Feltham (where projects like the Feltham MOD redevelopment and Hanworth Park House are crucial for unlocking housing and regeneration) are identified as essential development sites, with comprehensive plans to introduce thousands of new homes and commercial spaces.
The borough aims to meet its net-zero targets across all council operations, embedding sustainability in every facet of regeneration and infrastructure development.
