Hounslow Council’s Housing Services is hosting a special open day to help people looking for housing to discover what options are available to them.
The Housing Options Day is for people on the housing register who are at risk of homelessness or living in temporary accommodation provided by the Council.
Hounslow is facing a shortage of Council accommodation, with more than 4,000 people on the housing waiting list.
This means housing is allocated to those with the highest need, including families with young children and people with disabilities. Anyone not in a priority group could have a significant wait for housing.
At the Housing Options Day, Council officers will be on hand to help people explore alternative options to help them secure a suitable home. These include options such as the private rented market and housing schemes run by other housing providers.
Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Homelessness and Housing Management, Councillor Sue Sampson, said: “With the ongoing demand for Council housing exceeding supply, it’s more important than ever that residents explore all the available options for securing a home.
“Hounslow Council’s Housing Options Day will provide valuable insights into alternative housing routes, from shared ownership to private renting. We encourage everyone to attend, as it’s an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and find the best path to securing long-term accommodation to meet your housing needs.”
The Housing Options Day is Thursday, 31 October at Lampton School, Lampton Avenue, Hounslow. There will be a morning session between 10am and 1pm and an afternoon session between 2pm and 4pm.
The event is free to attend and residents can register for a place here:
