Hounslow Housing's Stay Fit, Stay Healthy programme provides health and wellbeing activities for the borough's over 60s.

There’s a fitness revolution taking place in Hounslow and it's the borough’s baby boomers who are leading the way.
The 60-plus group are lacing up their trainers and venturing out for some great free fitness activities.
We’re talking Tai-Chi, Yoga, the rhythmical moves of Zumba and the larger-than-life lessons of Bollywood-inspired dance classes.
It’s all part of an exciting programme of activities entitled Hounslow Stay Fit, Stay Healthy, which is back for a second round of health, wellbeing and happiness-related hi-jinx.
Spearheaded by Hounslow Council’s Sheltered Housing Service, Stay Fit, Stay Healthy, had its launch earlier this year at three of the borough’s sheltered housing schemes.
The regular sessions at Frogley House, Edward Pauling House and The Danehurst Centre proved so popular with the borough’s golden generation that the programme has re-launched and will run throughout the summer and all the way through October.
And it’s not just physical activity that’s on offer through Stay Fit, Stay Healthy because the programme has something for your mind, your body and your soul.
Here’s just a taste of some of the activities you can get involved with as part of Hounslow Stay Fit, Stay Healthy:
- Music to our ears - There are regular music therapy sessions at Edward Pauling House where you can meet new people, give your mental health a boost and unlock the singer inside you.
- Woolly wonders - Give boredom the needle with regular knitting sessions at Edward Pauling House.
- Let’s create - If you like arts and crafts then Frogley House is the place to be for our regular Creative Arts Campus.
- Bangin’ Bhangra - Step out in style at the Danehurst Centre with these vibrant sessions.
Add to that mood-boosting workshops, sessions on how to improve sleep, road and personal safety sessions, digital skills workshops, mindfulness, meditation and much more.
What’s even better is that Hounslow Stay Fit, Stay Healthy has partnered with BetterPoints, the app that rewards physical exercise and activity.
Sign up to BetterPoints and you can earn points for your sessions which can be cashed in for high street shopping vouchers or donated to your favourite charity.
Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing Management and Homelessness, Cllr Sue Sampson, said: “We are delighted to be launching our second phase of Hounslow Stay Fit, Stay Healthy in our sheltered accommodation settings.
“The first programme was so popular that many of the sessions were fully booked, so we had to bring it back.
“The sessions are aimed at anyone aged 60 and over in our borough and there is a packed programme that offers something for everyone.”
