Hounslow was awarded Dementia-Friendly Borough status by The Alzheimer’s Society in 2023.

The display signals the Council and its partners’ commitment to making Hounslow a dementia-friendly borough; a place where people affected by the illness feel supported and know how to access the great range of support available to them.

There are free events and activities across Hounslow throughout Dementia Action Week (13-19 May). Some events are at venues across Hounslow and others are online.

There is a webpage on the Hounslow Council website where people can see a full list of events. People attending these free sessions can learn about avenues of support, get information or find out more about dementia diagnosis.

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Transformation, said: “We want everyone affected by dementia across the borough to know that Hounslow Council is there for them.

“By turning the lights blue at Hounslow House, we’re saying that we stand with anyone affected by dementia in Hounslow, including family members and carers. It’s a devastating illness, but support is available.

“I would encourage people who want to know more about support in Hounslow to attend one of the events throughout the week.”
