Hounslow Council also published the formal Notice of Election, on Tuesday 19 March, opening nominations for those who want to stand as a candidate to be the South West Constituency member.

Poll cards hold useful information, such as which polling station the voter needs to attend. If residents don’t receive a poll card, they can check they’re registered to vote by emailing Hounslow Council’s Electoral Services team at  elections@hounslow.gov.uk or calling 020 8583 2828.

Alternatively, residents can register to vote online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Registering only takes five minutes and must be completed before midnight on Tuesday 16 April to participate in the upcoming Mayor of London and London Assembly elections on 2 May.

Voters must, for the first time, bring photo ID with them to vote at a polling station on 2 May. Accepted forms of photo ID include, a passport, driving licence, Blue Badge and Older person’s bus pass. Further detail on accepted forms of photo ID and other forms of photo ID, can be found on the Electoral Commission website. Voters can still use photo ID if it has expired, so long as the photo still looks like them, and it’s the original document (digital copies will not be accepted).

The South West Constituency is one of 14 London constituencies. It covers the three London boroughs of Hounslow, and Richmond and Kingston upon Thames, for the purpose of the Mayor of London and London Assembly elections in May.

Residents who want to stand as a candidate to be the South West Constituency member must complete and submit nomination papers to the Constituency Returning Officer during the nomination period, which closes at 4pm on Wednesday 27 March.
