Hounslow Gets Digital for Safer Internet Day

Hounslow Council is staging a Get Digital event for Safer Internet Day on Tuesday, 6 February.

If you’re looking to get tech-savvy and learn more about the ever-growing online world, then why not get the lowdown on downloads and all things internet-related at Hounslow’s own Digital Day?

Tuesday, 6 February is Safer Internet Day and the Council is getting in on the act by hosting a special Hounslow Gets Digital event at Hounslow House.

The event will cover a wide array of topics and highlight how residents can improve their digital skills and get connected.

The Council is committed to ensuring that anyone in Hounslow can access good broadband and the devices they need to use online services safely and confidently.

At the Hounslow Gets Digital event you can find out more about:

  • How to stay safe online
  • How to become. Digital Champion and make a difference in your community by helping others improve their skills
  • Free learning opportunities at Hounslow’s Library public computers
  • Adult learning opportunities available at the Meadowbank Centre

Hounslow Get Digital will also include workshop sessions and the chance to speak to the Council’s Digital Inclusion Team to find out what’s happening around the borough.

Representatives from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) will be on hand to talk about what tech support services are on offer locally.

Hounslow Council’s Adult Social Care Info Shop will provide information about issues such as the care and support options available to people who are struggling to manage at home, what help is available for carers and how to use Hounslow’s online directory of care and support services CarePlace.

Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Transformation, Cllr Samia Chaudhary, said:

“The Council and its partners are committed to shaping Hounslow’s digital future and empowering people in our borough to make the most of the online world for their home life, work and leisure.

“The Hounslow Gets Digital event is a great chance to get connected and find out more about what opportunities are available for you, your family and friends right at your fingertips. Everyone is welcome to attend, do bring your friends and family along and we can explore what is on offer together.”

Hounslow Gets Digital is a free event that will take place on the ground floor of Hounslow House on Tuesday, 6 February from 10am until 3pm.
