Cllr Dunne tree collection

The first collection event of the 2023/24 Free Trees for Hounslow initiative took place on Sunday, 3 December at Feltham Arenas Parklands, where more than 90 trees were collected.

The event was attended by the Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Katherine Dunne, and residents (who had placed their order in advance) collecting their fruit tree. The initiative is in its third consecutive year, with the offer also being open to schools, community groups and faith groups this year.

The annual free offering is part of the commitment to a greener and cleaner borough, and reinforces Hounslow Council’s pledge to plant 22,500 trees by 2026, a target that is well on track to be exceeded.

If you placed an order twinned with the Feltham collection event but weren’t able attend, please contact the team by emailing cleaner.greener@hounslow.gov.uk.

Any orders that remain unclaimed after their collection day will be re-entered into the system to be claimed by another resident.

There are still a limited number of trees available – residents can still claim theirs by clicking here. The remaining collection days are:

  • Sunday, 14 January: Boston Manor Park, Brentford.
  • Sunday, 21 January: Turnham Green, Chiswick.

Please be aware that trees are given away on a first come, first served basis, and residents must reserve their tree online before attending a collection day. The order confirmation email will contain the full details of what to do on the day and where to attend – only one tree is available per household.

Schools, faith groups and community groups still have the opportunity to reserve some trees for their organisation – either claim an individual tree or a bundle of three (one order per organisation). – Only one order can be placed per school/group.

We’d love to hear about how your tree is doing; tag us on social media (@LBofHounslow on Twitter/X), use the hashtag #FreeTreesForHounslow and #HounslowGreentalk, or email cleaner.greener@hounslow.gov.uk with pictures of your trees.

All trees for this year’s winter tree planting season have been delivered to the Lampton Services depot (as below!). These will be planted across borough through the next three months – a full tree planting schedule will be available via https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20168/parks_and_open_spaces/1827/trees/4 before the end of 2023.
