Living Wage Awards

The Living Wage Champion Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the Living Wage movement.

With Hounslow disproportionately affected economically by the Covid pandemic, Work Hounslow have been working post-pandemic alongside the Living Wage Foundation to actively promote the London Living Wage across the borough.

Independent research carried out by Oxford Economics predicted Hounslow as being the second hardest hit borough in London. A major factor is its proximity to Heathrow Airport and strong links to the aviation industry.

Through Work Hounslow, the Council is encouraging more businesses to pay the London Living Wage to get a fairer deal for local residents and those working in the borough. This means celebrating those who are paying the London Living Wage already and sharing the benefits it brings for both employees and businesses.

Silvia Del Corso, CEO of Brentford based marketing company, Pink SEO, said: ‘’Our business really benefitted from the accreditation. We observed improvements in brand reputation, employee retention, and overall morale. Being recognised as a London Living Wage employer has allowed us to project the image of an ethical business that we so strongly believe in.’’

Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet member for Children, Learning and Employment, said: “This is great news as I know there have been a record number of submissions this year so being shortlisted is an enormous achievement in itself. We are very proud of the work that Work Hounslow have done and being shortlisted is testament of this. Work Hounslow have started a movement that will see Hounslow become a proud champion of fair pay.

“I would also like to say a thank you to businesses who have been part of this journey so far.”

Work Hounslow will continue to work together with the Living Wage Foundation to promote the Living Wage in Hounslow and champion this work across the sub regional partnership and Pan London.

Winners will be announced on Thursday 6 July at The National Football Museum in Manchester
