Cycleway 9 work

This Spring, as part of the ongoing delivery of Cycleway 9 in Hounslow on behalf of Transport for London (TfL), Hounslow Council will be launching the construction of the permanent cycle route between the Jet garage near Watermans Park and Kew Bridge.

The work will begin on Monday 27 March. The work is expected to last for six months.

This section of the route will connect to the completed route between Kew Bridge and Heathfield Terrace and the trial route between Heathfield Terrace and Goldhawk Road, Chiswick.

The key features of the section between Watermans Park and Kew Bridge will deliver:

  • A new permanent segregated cycleway, consisting of both one-way and two-way cycle tracks, segregated using high-quality raised paving
  • New bus stop islands and improvements to existing bus lanes
  • A signalled crossing point connecting the two-way cycle track on Kew Bridge Road to the one-way cycle track on Brentford High Street
  • Changes to side road layouts to make people cycling more visible to vehicles

The Council’s contractors, Hounslow Highways, will be managing the delivery of these works. Working hours will be 7.30am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday. Further details on the construction programme will soon be issued by Hounslow Highways.

Throughout construction, we will aim to minimise disruption to residents, businesses, and other road users during these works, though it will be necessary to close roads and footpaths and use temporary traffic signals at times. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Notification letters will be sent to residents during the work to inform you of any key developments.

If you have any questions about the scheme objectives, please contact the council via the LBH Traffic email: traffic@hounslow.gov.uk
