Chiswick Cinema screens the Community Solutions animation on Sunday 2 October.

The animation was conceived by the South-West London based Jam Creative Consultancy with Hounslow Council and features four characters that reflect the support available to residents in the borough.

  • Jacinta – A 22-year-old single mother in financial difficulty.
  • Lizzie – An 18-year-old socially excluded wheelchair user.
  • Henry – A 74-year-old widower who lives on his own.
  • Darren – A 38-year-old single man with a range of issues including mental health challenges.

The animation follows their disparate stories while maintaining an important common thread; Community Solutions works in conjunction with the community and voluntary sector to ensure residents can connect with local activities, advice, guidance, information, and support - particularly at a time when cost of living issues are so prevalent.  The story also promotes Hounslowconnect.com, Community Solutions’ online platform.

The animation features several local landmarks including Brentford Football Club, Chiswick House and Gardens, Osterley House, and the Watermans Arts Centre, who, along with Chiswick Cinema, have kindly agreed to screen the animation free of charge in their advertising packages this autumn.  Chiswick Cinema began showing it last weekend as part of their Chiswick in Film Festival.

Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Equalities, Councillor Shivraj Grewal, said:

“Community Solutions offers residents free advice, information and guidance as well as connecting them to organisations and offers in their area.  We want more residents across the borough to feel confident in accessing local activities and support.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to promote this important message provided by both Chiswick Cinema and Watermans.”

Commenting on the animation, producer Julian Okines from Jam Creative, said:

“The challenge was to encapsulate a service that seeks to offer preventative advice and support on a diverse range of everyday issues.  The creative process included considering those nuances while telling a story residents could relate to.”

Chiswick Cinema’s Marketing Manager Chris Parker added:

“We are pleased that our cinema is beginning to act as a community hub and that's why we were very keen to help share this crucially informative and beautifully designed animation with our diverse audience base."
