Your brown wheelie bin or re-usable sacks are for garden waste.
You get collections through a garden waste subscription.
We collect garden waste every two weeks on the same day as your other recycling. You can use our online tool to look up your collection day.
If we haven't collected your brown wheelie bin or re-usable sacks, you can report a missed collection.
What you can put in
Any green waste from your garden.
You can use our Waste Wizard to look up specific items and see how you can recycle them.
What you can't put in
If you're not sure if something can go in your garden waste, you can use our Waste Wizard to look up the item and see how to recycle it.
You can take items that don't go in your recycling boxes to our Reuse and Recycling Centre or put them in your black wheelie bin.
What happens to your garden waste
We take garden waste to purpose-built sites, where it is turned into a compost through a process called open windrow composting.
This involves putting the garden waste into long heaps called windrows. It is turned frequently in the presence of oxygen and breaks down naturally over six weeks.
This creates a high-quality compost that is certified to the PAS100 quality standard.
