Household recycling and waste collections

New Service – From 5 June

Your new red and blue recycling boxes will be delivered between Monday 5 June and Friday 30 June, along with detailed information about your weekly recycling collections (including plastics) and what you need to recycle in each box. More details

You will receive your new red and blue recycling boxes on your usual collection day. Your first collection using your red, blue and green recycling boxes wil then start the following week on your usual collection day.

On collection day please:

  • Place your container(s) out for collection by 7 am.
  • Place it on the front boundary of your property, in a place clearly visible and accessible from (but not on) the pavement.
  • Only put out the correct materials in each container

It is very important to make sure you put the right materials in the right container as it will be very difficult for our collection crews to cover all their collection rounds if they have to manually sort the recycling. If you place the wrong items in the wrong box, we will not collect your recycling

Not received all your recycling boxes?

Please check your delivery date using our map. If your delivery date has passed, you have received a recycling leaflet through your door and you are missing boxes, cover net or biodegradable bags then please let us know here

Note your cover net and biodegradable bags should be sandwiched between your boxes - please check before contacting us.

How to use your boxes and bins

Recycling around the home

If you live in the borough you can recycle a wide range of materials using the containers shown below. Recycling helps to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill and reduces the amount of methane which escapes to the atmosphere from this buried waste.

Recycling and food waste is collected every week on the same day. Your kitchen caddy should be lined with a biodegradable food waste bag, kitchen towel, newspapers or shredded paper to make it easier to empty and to clean.

Garden Waste is collected once every two weeks (on the same day of the week as recycling). However, this is a subscription only service.

From 10 July, all other residual waste, which is neither recyclable or compostable is collected once every two weeks (on the same day of the week as recycling but alternating with garden waste collections).
