How we deal with FOI and EIR requests

We are required to respond to your request within 20 working days of receiving it. If a payment is required, the 20 days response time will start when it is received. It is essential that your request is clear. If necessary we will contact you for clarification. We will then have 20 days following your response to our request for clarification to provide you with the information.

If we are unable to give you any of the information you requested, we will explain our decision. If the information is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. We will explain which exemption applies and why.

Charging

Information is generally available free of charge, under the Open Government Licence, if requested under the Freedom of Information Act. However, we reserve the right to charge as set out in the Freedom of Information Act 2000. If a charge is to be made, confirmation of the payment due will be given before the information is provided. Payment may be requested prior to provision of the information.

Copyright and Reuse of public sector information

Information that we hold the copyright for may be released under legislation including the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, but this does not automatically mean you have permission to reproduce it. Where the London Borough of Hounslow holds the copyright for the data, you may use and re-use it under the conditions of the Open Government Licence and the use of the information indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the licence. The exceptions to this will be where a third party, for example Ordnance Survey, owns the data. If you are unsure, please email information governance team for more information.
