Hounslow community funeral service

The Hounslow Community Funeral Service aims to provide a simple, dignified funeral at an agreed fixed price. Although this will be particularly helpful to anyone claiming benefits or on a limited budget, anyone can use this service.

The service is available for all funerals being arranged for a resident of the borough who has died. Set up by Hounslow Council, the service is provided by certain local funeral directors:

Public Health Funerals

If someone dies without the means to pay for a funeral and without friends or family able or willing to meet the cost or make the arrangements, the Local Authority (or sometimes the NHS if they died in hospital) has a statutory duty under the Public Health Act 1984 to provide a basic one. Under the Act, the Local Authority has the right to reclaim the cost of the funeral from the deceased person’s estate. Further information on Public Health Funerals may be found by contacting the Community Funerals Officer (see below).
