Hounslow community funeral service

The Hounslow Community Funeral Service aims to provide a simple, dignified funeral at an agreed fixed price. Although this will be particularly helpful to anyone claiming benefits or on a limited budget, anyone can use this service.

The service is available for all funerals being arranged for a resident of the borough who has died. Set up by Hounslow Council, the service is provided by certain local funeral directors:

Public Health Funerals

If someone dies without the means to pay for a funeral and without friends or family able or willing to meet the cost or make the arrangements, the Local Authority (or sometimes the NHS if they died in hospital) has a statutory duty under the Public Health Act 1984 to provide a basic one. Under the Act, the Local Authority has the right to reclaim the cost of the funeral from the deceased person’s estate.
