Non-medical poisons licences

From 26 May 2015, the London Borough of Hounslow will no longer be responsible for issuing licences for non-medical poisons.

Currently, licences are issued for poisons which fall under Part 2 of the Poisons Act. There is also a requirement for us to enter details of those who hold a licence on to our register.

From 26 May 2015, this legislation will be repealed and there will be no need for local authorities to hold a register for sellers of non-medicinal poisons (e.g. DIY shops and Garden Centres).

If your licence expires between now and 26 May 2015, it has been agreed by central government that there will be no need to renew your licence and we will keep you on our register until 26 May 2015.

Any enquiries regarding non-medical poisons and the new licence requirements should be directed to the Home Office, who are now responsible for licensing under the Poisons Act. Full details can be viewed on gov.uk.
