The Community Partnerships Unit commissions a number of organisations to provide valuable services to residents by supporting the work of the voluntary and community sector across the borough.
Social Welfare Advice
Hounslow Citizens Advice Bureau provides advice, advocacy and casework for residents in the areas of welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, consumer issues, disability, family, discrimination and immigration. The service supported over circa 9,000 unique clients in 2019-20 with more than 26,000 enquiries / issues. Community Transport and Shopmobility
Hounslow Community Transport provides affordable mini-bus hire, with or without a driver, for Hounslow VCSE organisations, schools, and other community organisations. It also provides regular MIDAS training, providing staff and volunteers of organisations with the qualification needed to drive a mini-bus.
HCT runs the Shopmobility Service based in the car park of the Hounslow Blenheim Centre (below Asda). This service rents motorised scooters and wheelchairs to members, both Hounslow residents and members of other shopmobility schemes.
Ealing and Hounslow Volunteer Centre
Ealing and Hounslow Volunteer Centre provides a volunteer brokerage services which helps match potential volunteers with vacant roles in Hounslow-based organisations.
The service also works with VCSE organisations to help them develop and advertise a range of volunteer roles and put in place the systems, policies and procedures to effectively manage and support volunteers, including those with additional support needs.
Voluntary Sector Support
Ealing and Hounslow CVS provides a range of support to help build the capacity and sustainability of the voluntary and community sector in Hounslow.
This involves regular training; monthly e-newsletters on funding and sector relevant issues; a website of information and resources; advice and support on sources of funding and bid writing; support on governance and business planning.
