Counting votes
Once the polls close at 10pm, the votes must be counted. Depending on the election, counting may take place overnight or on the following day.
Count Assistant
Count assistants are required to sort and count the votes accurately, working as part of a team instructed by a count supervisor.
Duties include:

Attending training and following the instructions of the count supervisor

Maintain the secrecy of the ballot

Act professionally and impartially at all times

Sort and count ballot papers

Recount ballot papers, if required

Identify doubtful ballot papers
