Hounslow Careers Cluster

What we do & resources

  1. 26-week pilot activities will be tailored to the needs of local students and schools and help to further develop our young people’s employability skills and knowledge related to local opportunities. Our subcontractor Spark! ensures various business include local small and medium sized businesses are involved in its delivery, with one of them acting as lead employer and closely collaborating with the school to oversee the pilots. The end goal is to understand, what works (and what doesn’t) and consider how to best embed good practice across Hounslow schools.
  2. 60 students from each school get the opportunity to take part in a 5-day work placement in a sector that reflects their interests and aspirations.  We will provide a highly individualised approach that meets both students’ and employer’s needs. This could be a traditional in person placement, or a hybrid model which combines online interaction with local businesses and in person support in the workplace.
  3. We shall offer teachers Labour Market Information (LMI) training sessions with the assistance of local businesses to empower subject teachers and senior leaders with the tools and knowledge to better understand how LMI can be brought to life in the classroom.
  4. We recognise that parents and carers support can heavily influence young people’s decisions about their education, training and future careers. The project sets out to help parents develop their understanding of the many opportunities available both locally and more widely to ensure every individual fulfils their potential, expands their horizons, and raises their aspirations.
