Do I need to book an appointment to visit Space Waye?

Yes, you need to make an online booking to visit Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre. You will not be able to enter the site without a valid booking.

What if I can’t book a slot online?

If you are unable to book online, you can call our Customer Service team on 0208 583 5555.

I have more than one type of waste; can I bring multiple types of waste?​

Yes, please only bring what you can lift and dispose of in your allocated 30-minute time slot.

I don’t live in Hounslow, but I do live in one of the WLWA boroughs, can I still come to Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre?​

Yes, we welcome residents from other WLWA boroughs (Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Brent and Richmond) with a valid booking. You will need to bring proof of residency (photo ID, utility bill).

What are the opening times for Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre?

Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre is open to the public Monday - Sunday, 8am-4pm. Last entry is between 3.00pm to 3.30pm.

Do I need to bring proof of residence to Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre?​

Yes, please bring photo ID and a utility bill (electricity, gas, council tax). The utility bill can be shown on a smartphone.

How should I sort my waste?​

To maximise the efficiency of your trip, sort waste into the following categories:

Green waste, textiles, lightbulbs, small electricals, large domestic electricals, TVs, refrigerators and freezers, non-recyclable (black bin waste), batteries (car), batteries (household), books, cardboard, hazardous household chemicals, fluorescent tubes, gas bottles, hardcore and rubble, mattresses, paint (and dry empty metal paint cans), plastics, scrap metal, used engine oil, wood and timber, fire extinguishers, cooking oil, bulky non-recyclable, bulky recyclable

What if I miss my slot time? ​     

Residents can enter up to ten minutes after their slot has finished. After this time, we are unable to admit residents and you will be required to re-book. Please note that all cars are required to vacate the premises after 30-minutes, no matter what time you arrive.

I am unable to make my slot. Can I change it to another time? ​

You can amend date/time of your booking here or from your confirmation email.

Please note, you can change or cancel your slot up to 2 hours before the booked slot only. If you are unable to change your booking slot via the confirmation email please call 0208 583 5555 for further assistance. Changes via telephone will need to be made the day before your booking slot.

Do I need to pay to dispose of my waste and recycling? ​

Waste charges are payable for DIY materials and 3 or more mattresses.

I am planning to hire a car and don’t know the registration plate, what should I do?​

​You can type HIRE into the registration field box.

How far in advance can I book my slot? ​

We release booking slots two weeks in advance. Please check back for new slots being released.

What if I need help unloading my waste? ​

You can bring someone to help you unload your waste, please only bring what you or your passenger can lift. Staff cannot assist you with removing items from your car.

What recycling can I bring? ​

Wood, green waste, glass bottles/jars, plastic bottles/pots/tubs/trays, metal, cans/tins, mattresses, lightbulbs, TVs and monitors, waste electricals, textiles (any condition – clean), batteries (car & household), books, paint, fridges/freezers, large appliances (white goods).

What waste is not accepted at Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre?

Can I use a van or a car with a trailer?

Yes, you do not need to book a slot. Enter site via Heron Way (Gate 3) until 2.45pm each day. Please check the site policy section 'Households using a van or a car with a trailer' for more information.

What if I need to make multiple trips to Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre? ​

We have limited visits to two per day per resident, with a cap of three maximum for the week. 

I didn’t get a booking reference number.

​Your vehicle’s registration will act as a booking reference number, but you should also have received a confirmation email or SMS text.

What waste is chargeable, how much is it and how do I pay?

  • More than 2 mattresses
  • If you bring a mix of waste (chargeable waste with non-chargeable waste), you will be charged as a whole
  • There is a charge for DIY waste

What can I put in the black bag (non-recyclables) waste bin?

Please place non-recyclable plastics, CDs and DVDs, bulky waste and general household waste in the black bin.

Please do not include: textiles, wood, electricals (small and large domestic), fridges and freezers, lightbulbs and fluorescent tubes, batteries (car and household), green waste, asbestos, books, cardboard, hazardous chemicals, gas bottles, hardcore and rubble, mattresses, paint, recyclable plastics, scrap metal, TVs, engine oil and wood, tyres, cooking oil, fire extinguishers, gas bottles, hazardous household chemicals.

How do I know which bin to use?

There are clear signs around the site and if you require additional help our staff will be happy to assist. 

What if I need to change the vehicle, I am bringing to Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre?

Amendments can be made to your booking or by following the link provided in your confirmation email.

How does the bookings system manage my data?

The booking system is managed by West London Waste Authority, information on data protection can be found on their website.
