Golden Mile 100 Anniversary
A Century of the Golden Mile
We marked 100 years since the opening of the Great West Road on 30 May 2025 – the birth of the Golden Mile and a milestone in London’s industrial story. We celebrated its past, present and future through exhibitions, public art, storytelling and collaboration throughout May and June.
Festivities began with the GM100 Public Exhibition at Boston Manor Park (31 May – 1 June), followed by a Classic Car Cavalcade that cruised from the Duke of London and Boston Manor Road to Gillette Corner. Highlights included exclusive tours of JCDecaux’s Grade II listed Art Deco building, design workshops envisioning the Golden Mile in 2125, and two short guided cycling tours exploring its famous Art Deco architecture.
The iconic Gillette Factory opened its doors for film screenings and discussions on the future of work in the new Gillette Corner Studios, while the University of West London hosted a social hackathon with West London Queer Project, as well as exhibitions and architecture days celebrating innovation and inclusivity. The Brentford Canal Festival brought the community together with music, art, and boat trips celebrating the town’s evolving landscape, and the month concluded with events at the SEGA Building, where creative workshops reimagined how the Golden Mile will continue to inspire for the next hundred years.
