Hate crime

Hate crime can take many forms:

  • verbal abuse
  • physical abuse
  • graffiti
  • criminal damage to your home or property
  • threats to harm you, your friends or your family
  • intimidation
  • bullying
  • producing offensive printed material about you
  • online and social media

If you believe you have been abused because of your race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability - you have experienced hate crime.

Report it

Hounslow police and Hounslow Council take hate crime seriously. You will be listened to and we will take appropriate action.

There are many ways you can report hate crime:

Real

Real provides a service for anyone who has been a victim of hate crime because of their disability or perceived disability. Real is a registered third party reporting centre. This means Real will assist you to report a disability hate crime if you do not want to directly report the crime to the police yourself.

Community Security Trust (CST) is a national Jewish Charity that has extensive experience of providing support and advocacy for victims of antisemitism. CST works across the Jewish Community, from the most religious to the most secular.

Hounslow’s Hate Crime Advocacy service is no longer accepting referrals and closes on 31 March 2021.

If you are an individual who has experienced a hate crime you can find support by contacting Community Alliance To Combat Hate Crime (CATCH ) at www.catch-hatecrime.org.uk

CATCH is a group of charities who give specialist advice and help to people in London who are targeted with violence, abuse or harassment because of their race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity.

All the charities a part of CATCH are completely independent from the police. You will not be pressured to take action you do not want to take. Information you share with a charity will not be shared unless you consent to the information being shared.
