London Borough of Hounslow have partnered with BSL Online Interpreting Service, SignLive. Initially, the service will enable deaf residents to contact Adult Social Care and Hounslow Community Solutions only. It is a pilot scheme that will eventually roll out to other Council departments.

If you are a BSL user, you can use SignLive to connect to an online professional BSL interpreter. Tell them you are calling Hounslow Council Adult Social Care or Community Solutions. They will then interpret for you. You can do this from your own device.

This is a free service that can be accessed via an app on your mobile, tablet or via the web on your laptop.

You only need to register with SignLive once, via Google, Facebook or email, and you will be able to connect with the either service quickly via SignLive’s Community Directory, clearly highlighted with the Council's logo.

Contacting Adult Social Care

You may wish to contact the Adult Social Care First Contact Team if:

  • you are struggling to manage at home because of age, illness or disability and you need advice or practical support or
  • you would like to request a Needs Assessment or a Carers Needs Assessment or
  • you have a safeguarding concern about yourself or someone you know - you are worried about abuse, neglect or being exploited or
  • you need advice or support from the Sensory Team regarding equipment

Contacting Hounslow Community Solutions

The Community Solutions Team was set up to ensure Hounslow's most vulnerable residents get the support and help they need during the coronavirus pandemic.

Contact Community Solutions for advice and practical support if you need help with food, medicines and other essential supplies. Also, if you are feeling isolated. 

How to Access SignLive

The first time you use SignLive you will need to register as a one-off. This will give you good video quality and also means that your calls are secure. We also have instant Facebook and Google login options.

Simply access SignLive on your desktop without having to download software or plug-ins. Alternatively, download the SignLive app from the App store or Google Play - visit https://signlive.co.uk/login/ for more information.
