What we are doing to stop fly-tipping in the borough

We are fighting back against fly-tipping with a ‘Let’s Scrap Fly-tipping’ campaign designed to raise awareness of illegal dumping of waste and educate residents and businesses on how they can help keep Hounslow’s streets clean and tidy.

Not only is it a blight on our streets, but we spend over £1.3 million every year clearing up waste that has been dumped illegally. Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and can result in a fixed penalty notice of £400. If it is a large or dangerous fly-tip we can take the perpetrator to Court, where they could be fined up to £50,000 or even face a prison sentence.

We will be posting CCTV images of people we believe may be involved in the illegal dumping of waste and want your help to identify them so we can take the appropriate enforcement action.

If you contact us with information relating to any of these incidents, we will need to contact you to get a formal witness statement in order to take enforcement action. This could be used as evidence to help us issue a fine or to prosecute anyone who is found guilty of fly-tipping.
