Your green recycling box is for glass bottles and jars.
We collect all of your recycling boxes every week. You can use our online tool to look up your collection day.
You can order a new recycling box if:
- yours is broken and you need a replacement
- you want to recycle more materials than you can fit in one box
If we haven't collected your green recycling box, you can report a missed collection.
You can put in:
- glass bottles
- glass jars
You can't put in:
- lightbulbs (you can put these in your black wheelie bin)
- ceramics (for example, mugs and plates)
- pyrex
- perfume bottles
- drinking glasses (for example, tumblers and wine glasses)
- window glass
What happens to your bottles and jars
Our crews put the mixed glass into one compartent on the collection vehicle.
The glass then goes to a re-processor, where it is separated by colour, processed and resold to bottle and jar manufacturers.
Any leftover glass is used as an aggregate replacement in construction.
