Effective overview and scrutiny should:
- provide constructive “critical friend” challenge;
- amplify the voices and concerns of the public;
- be led by independent people who take responsibility for their role; and
- drive improvement in public services.
How Scrutiny works in Hounslow
Overview and Scrutiny in Hounslow consists of an Overview and Scrutiny Committee, a Call-in Subcommittee and three Scrutiny Panels (Children and Young People Scrutiny Panel; Health and Adults Social Care Scrutiny Panel; and Housing and Environment Scrutiny Panel). Hounslow is also a member of the North West London Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
