Garden waste collection service 2023/2024
Subscription to the half year Garden Waste service has CLOSED!
Subscriptions will open for the 2024/25 service in February.
Hounslow Council’s Garden Waste collection service provides residents with fortnightly collections, with a break of two weeks over the Christmas period from 22nd December until they resume on the 8th January 2024. The service is a convenient, low-cost way for residents with gardens to dispose of cuttings throughout the year.
Garden Waste is collected from your property by Recycle 360, a company wholly owned by Hounslow Council. Every Garden Waste collection is recycled and creates a high-quality compost – we are proud to say that no waste collected by Hounslow Council goes to landfill.
What you can put in your bin:
What happens to the collected Garden Waste?
Garden Waste in Hounslow is collected and taken to purpose built sites where it is turned into compost through a process called open Windrow Composting*. The six week process allows the green waste to breakdown naturally in the presence of oxygen, creating a high quality compost that is certified to the PAS100 quality standard.
*The Garden Waste is put in to long heaps called Windrows. It is turned frequently until it breaks down naturally to form a material that can be used to improve the soil.
