Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, Cabinet Member for Finance & Corporate Services at Hounslow Council said:

“In this current Coronavirus crisis, we will look sympathetically on any resident struggling with their Council Tax payments, and will treat each situation on a case by case basis.  In the first instance we will extend the instalments from 10 to 12 months and we will work with individual customers by reviewing their income and expenditure and then agreeing a suitable repayment plan which can be reviewed regularly.  It is not our intention to reduce anyone’s council tax liability.  However, if customers’ circumstances have changed as a result of this crisis and they find themselves on a lower income, they should apply for council tax support.  Council Tax support is a local scheme administered by the Council which provides help for customers on low income with their council tax bill."
