Hounslow Council unanimously approved a Digital Strategy 2020-2025

At a meeting of Hounslow’s Cabinet on 17 March, Hounslow Council unanimously approved a Digital Strategy 2020-2025, while the timetable for the delivery of key projects within the strategy was also approved.
This strategy outlines the council’s digital vision to create connected and inclusive communities across the borough.
It is important Hounslow Council is in a position to use data and technology to improve services, and this strategy will see staff and councillors supported in the skills and cultural transformation needed to achieve this.
The new strategy will also enable savings across the council.
Cllr Pritam Grewal, Cabinet Member for Customer Services and Corporate Performance said: “The Hounslow Digital Strategy harnesses the tremendous opportunity to deliver transformation across the council but I want to make clear that digital does not mean the council will be pressuring residents to move online for key services. While digital will enable many improvements, traditional customer service methods will remain in place as they are a crucial element of our service delivery.
“However, an integral part of the strategy is to ensure skills and access to technology is increased outside the council as well as within council offices and it is essential we provide support to those sections of the community who may be at a higher risk of digital exclusion.”
There are four pillars in the new strategy:
- Services and customers – ensuring services are redesigned to be easy to access and intuitive to use.
- Staff and workforce – providing all our staff with modern technology and empowering them to work together; enabling a digitally-fit workforce.
- Place and community – enabling a better-connected community.
- Collaboration and data – working as one council to build the future, sharing data and working with our strategic partners across the borough.
The strategy is the result of consultation and co-design across the council, from listening to the challenges and ambitions faced by colleagues, councillors and partners alongside a review of the Corporate Plan. There were also drop-in sessions with borough residents.
