One of the busiest shops in the borough for Polish people is, not unsurprisingly ‘The Polish Shop’, on the main Hounslow High Street.

The huge supermarket style shop caters for every type of Polish and British food for its thousands of regular customers.

Manager Dawid Ostrowski, who has worked at the store for over a year but has lived in the UK for a decade, has already successfully applied for EU Settlement Status and has encouraged all his staff to do like-wise.  He said:

“I applied last December through the website and it was really easy. So I’ve spoken to my 26 colleagues, all of whom are Polish, to follow my example and most have already done so.  I’m also happy to hand out EU leaflets to customers who have not applied yet and explain to them just how easy it is to do. Most of our customers are Polish, but we also cater for Romanians, Indians and quite a few British people”.

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council said:  “There are over 500,000 Polish people living in London, and here in Hounslow they make up a large proportion of the 40,000 EU residents in our borough.  Therefore, it is really encouraging to hear Dawid and his team have applied for the EU Settlement Status and are doing everything they can to encourage others”.
