From Tuesday 7 January to Friday 17 January, Hounslow Council is again offering residents the opportunity to get their real Christmas trees collected and recycled free of charge.
Published: Tuesday, 7th January 2020
Residents are simply asked to leave their tree out next to their recycling on their corresponding collection day and it will be picked up by the garden waste crews (regardless if you have subscribed to this service or not).
All decorations, pots and stands need to be removed before the tree is put out for collection, otherwise the tree will not be collected, and trees should be left out for collection by 7am on the collection day.
The Christmas tree collection service applies only to properties receiving the kerbside garden waste and recycling services. Residents that live in a flat should either speak to their managing agent and/or landlord on how to dispose of their tree or alternatively you can visit one of the various drop-off points throughout January.
Like previous years Hounslow Council is aiming to reduce the impact of trees being incorrectly disposed or abandoned on streets and parks, this not only creates unnecessary waste on our streets, but also requires additional costs and resource to clear them.
Please check when your Christmas tree collection day is before placing it out for collection. For collection days and information on drop off points please visit www.hounslow.gov.uk/ChristmasCollections
Councillor Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member for Highways, Recycling and Companies said:
“Hounslow Council remains committed to making the borough cleaner and greener for everyone to enjoy. By offering residents a free Christmas tree collection and drop off service we aim to make recycling easy, and reduce, reuse and recycle as many items as possible.”
