Niall Bolger, Chief Executive, Hounslow Council said:

“We were shocked and concerned to hear of the fire at Travelodge, Brentford High Street this morning. The police were called to the site at 3.11am this morning (Wednesday 4 December), to assist the London Fire Brigade who are continuing to dealing with the fire. The London Ambulance Service also attended.

Our first concern is the safety of the people involved and we understand that there are no casualties and 160 people were safely evacuated from the hotel. We have officers at the scene to help those affected.

We understand that Travelodge have been able to find accommodation for those affected in other Travelodge hotels nearby.

The police are assisting with road closures while the London Fire Brigade continue to work to extinguish the fire and diversions are in place, including bus routes.

We have been notified that Brentford High Street is currently closed from Pottery Road, near Watermans Art Centre towards Kew Bridge, and would advise people to avoid the area if at all possible.

We will continue to work with our partners in the emergency services, with Travelodge and the local community and provide ongoing help and support.”
