London Borough of Hounslow Services of Remembrance

On Remembrance Sunday, members of Hounslow Council will be attending Services of Remembrance at all nine War Memorials in the borough.

The Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Tony Louki, recently met with the Deputy Lieutenant for Hounslow, Paul Kennerley and representatives of all the Royal British Legion (RBL) branches in Hounslow, both collectively and individually, to discuss the events to mark Remembrance Sunday 2019 in the borough.

The RBL branches – all of which were awarded Freedom of the Borough by the council in April 2017 – have arranged services at nine of the War Memorials across the borough on Sunday 10 November. The Mayor and Deputy Lieutenant will be attending two events (in Feltham and Hounslow), with fellow councillors representing the Mayor and the council at the remaining five Services.

The Mayor and Deputy Lieutenant are also aiming to attend every RBL Branch or event across the Remembrance Weekend.

Residents are welcome to attend the Services and watch the parades taking place at the sites listed below:

Bedfont

9am:               Service of Remembrance, St Marys Church, Hatton Road, TW14 8JR

10.30am:        Parade marches from St Marys Church down Staines Road towards the War Memorial by Bedfont Library (Staines Road - junction with Grovestile Way)

10.50:             Wreath Laying

11am:             Two minutes’ silence followed by remainder of Service

11.20am:        Parade forms up for March Past. The parade will march up Staines Road towards New Road, before being dismissed.

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Deputy Mayor and local ward Councillor Raghwinder Siddhu, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

 

Brentford

10.50am:        Service of Remembrance, Brentford Cenotaph, Brentford Library (Half Acre, junction with Windmill Road), Boston Manor Road, TW8 8DW

11am:             Two minutes’ silence followed by wreath laying and remainder of Service

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Councillor Steve Curran Leader of the Council and Syon ward councillor, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

 

Chiswick

10.30am:        Parade leaves the memorial club Bourne Place Chiswick W4 2EL onto Chiswick High Road and up to Turnham Green Church for the Service of Remembrance ((junction with Heathfield Terrace)

11am:             Two minutes’ silence followed by wreath laying

11.10am:        Parade returns to Bourne Place

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Councillor Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member Highways, Recycling and Trading Companies, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

 

Feltham

2.40pm:          Parade departs from St Lawrence RC Primary School car park, Victoria Road TW13 4FF to Feltham War Memorial (on Feltham High Street by Feltham Pond)

3pm:               Service of Remembrance and wreath laying

The Mayor of Hounslow will lay a wreath on behalf of the council, along with the Deputy Lieutenant for Hounslow, Paul Kennerley.

 

Hanworth

10.30am:        Parade marches from the RBL offices, Cross Road, Feltham up to South Road memorial (Main Street – junction with Green Lane)

11am:             Service of Remembrance, including two minutes’ silence and wreath-laying

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Councillor Candice Atterton, Cabinet Member for Adults, Social Care and Health and local ward councillor, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

 

Heston

10.25am:        Parade leaves from the TA centre on Vicarage Farm Road TW5 0EE for St Leonard’s Church, Heston Road (junction with New Heston Road)

10.45am:        Service of Remembrance, including the two minutes’ silence

11.30am:        Wreath laying at the memorial on New Heston Road

11.50am:       Parade leaves for TA

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Councillor Shivraj Grewal, local ward councillor, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

 

Hounslow

10am:             Parade leaves for Holy Trinity Church, Hounslow High Street from Hounslow mainline station, TW3 2DQ

10.30am:        Service of Remembrance, including two minutes’ silence and wreath laying

11.15am:        Parade leaves for the RBL offices

The Mayor of Hounslow will lay a wreath on behalf of the council, along with the Deputy Lieutenant for Hounslow, Paul Kennerley.

 

Isleworth

10.25am:        Parade leaves Royal British Legion offices in North Street TW7 6BT for Isleworth War Memorial (junction of Twickenham Road and South Street)

11am:             Service of Remembrance, including two minutes’ silence and wreath laying

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Councillor Daanish Saeed, local ward councillor, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

 

Cranford

10.45am:        Service of Remembrance at Cranford War Memorial (High Street, junction with The Avenue)

11am:             Two minutes’ silence

The Mayor of Hounslow will be represented by Councillor Sukbir Singh Dhaliwal, local ward councillor, who will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.
