Pupils from Lampton School joined local councillors, the Mayor of Hounslow and officers from Hounslow Council for the official opening of two new bus stops last week along the A4 Great West Road, serving the H91 bus route West and East-bound directions.

The bus stops form part of the Mayor of London’s Healthy Streets local scheme and have been jointly financed by Transport for London and Hounslow Council. The scheme which seeks to enable residents across London to opt for viable sustainable modes of transport, rather than driving, will enable the Lampton School community to easily commute to school by bus.
The location is also convenient for several other schools in the area, including Alexandra School and Heston Primary School. The bus stops will also enable local people to access community and sports centres, libraries and Underground Stations; Hounslow East, Hounslow Central and Osterley – all within a 1 mile radius of the new bus stops.
The bus stops have been installed as close as possible to Lampton Road toucan crossing, providing safe crossing for all.
Councillor Hanif Khan, Lead Member for Transport at Hounslow Council said:
“This scheme is a really positive addition to the local area. If we are to encourage people to choose more sustainable modes of transport, it is important that we provide real options.
"We hope that the addition of these bus stops adjacent to so many schools, community services and onward transport links, will result in many more local journeys being done by bus, reducing traffic and congestion in the whole area and helping to improve our air quality.”
