The Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Samia Chaudhary, will be representing Hounslow Council at two Services of Remembrance on Sunday 11 November to mark Armistice Day.

The Mayor, along with the Deputy Lieutenant of Hounslow, Paul Kennerley, will be attending the Feltham and Hanworth Services, and fellow councillors will be representing her at seven other War Memorials across Hounslow.

Armistice Day commemorates the eleventh hour of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month of 1918 when peace terms were signed ending the Great War in 1918. This year will also see the commemoration of the centenary of World War 1, thanking to the servicemen and women of that generation who helped to shape our world as we know it today.

Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Samia Chaudhary said:

“It is only right and proper that we commemorate the contribution of the British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts – people to whom we owe so much.

“We must never forget the sacrifices made by so many people over the years, and I hope as many people as possible will join us for remembrance services on Sunday.”

Please be aware that there are likely to be local road closures around the sites for the duration of the events.
