School admissions open online from Saturday 1 September

The new school year is about to start, but it’s already time for parents and carers to start planning ahead for next year – the good news is it can be done easily and quickly online.

The new school year is about to start, but it’s already time for parents and carers to start planning ahead for next year – the good news is it can be done easily and quickly online on our school admissions webpage.

The application process for primary school or transferring to junior or secondary, opens on Saturday 1 September 2018. If your child is moving on next year make sure you apply for a good place.

Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services and Youth Services, Hounslow Council, said: “Since we moved the application process completely online, it has been a great success.

“I know many parents have found it much easier and quicker, enabling them to apply in plenty of time for the deadline.

“For those parents still unsure about applying online, we have help and support available to make sure they can access and use the service fully, so I encourage them to make use of that.

“We’re committed to supporting our children in getting the best education possible and the best start in life and this includes providing the services that can help provide that.”

 Applications to transfer to secondary school (Year 7) in September 2019 must be submitted by the 31 October 2018. If your child is in Year 6 and born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, you will need to apply for a secondary school place.
 
For primary school (Reception class), the deadline for applications for September 2019 is the 15 January 2019. If your child is born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, you will need to apply for a primary school place.

For transferring to junior school, the deadline for applications is the 15 January 2019. If your child is in Year 2 in an infant’s school and born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012, you will need to apply for a junior school place.
 
Parents or guardians should note that applications received after the deadlines will be considered as late.  Late applications will only be processed after on time applications.
 
Missing the deadline increases the risk of your child not being offered a place at once of your preferred schools – even if they already have a sibling at the school.  
 
If you need help with making your application, parents and guardians are welcome to attend a drop in sessions held every Wednesday from 3 October, at the Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow, TW3 4DN, from 10am-2pm.
