Hounslow Council has just launched its new email notification service in a bid to improve communications with the borough’s residents and stakeholders.
Published: Thursday, 28th June 2018
Part of the council’s digital transformation programme, the Gov Delivery communications platform is a cloud based, multi-channel service that can be accessed using any digital device.
Residents are invited to ‘Get Connected’ by registering to receive news and updates on a variety of topics, ranging from council services, local news and events. Subscribers can opt in or opt out at any time with ease. The new service aims to streamline communication with residents and stakeholders and keep people informed on topics of interest to them, in a way that’s convenient to them.
The Gov Delivery service is owned by its American parent, Granicus which has developed the platform specifically for public sector communications. Across the UK over 180 organisations have adopted the service including the HMRC, Home Office and many local authorities, including many London Boroughs. When registering with the service, subscribers will also have the opportunity to register for updates from other organisations within the Gov Delivery network.
Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Steve Curran said:
‘We hope that this new communications platform will greatly improve communications with our residents. Many of our residents lead extremely busy lives, so engaging meaningfully with them can be a challenge. Our new email notification service will streamline our communications, enabling residents to choose the information they want to receive, in a way that’s convenient to them, whether that be their smart phone, tablet or PC.’
All current council email notifications will migrate to this service over the next few months. Visit our Get Connected page to sign up for email alerts.
