Beryl Cross was a former Labour Councillor, who represented Gunnersbury Ward, as it was then known in the earliest days of the modern London Borough of Hounslow Council. A pioneering ward councillor, Beryl Cross worked tirelessly to improve conditions for her constituents during a time of great change in the mid 60s.
Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Steve Curran, said:
‘We owe a great debt of gratitude to former councillors such as Beryl Cross whose hard work and dedication to helping the people of Hounslow, paved the way for the prosperous and enterprising London Borough we have become. We extend our sincerest sympathies to Beryl’s family and friends.’
The Borough’s flag will fly at half-mast both today (25 June) and tomorrow. A minute’s silence will be observed as a mark of respect for former Councillor Cross, as well as the recently deceased other former councillors; Carey and Duffy at tomorrow evening’s Borough Council meeting.
