Hounslow Road is now closed to traffic and pedestrians between Hanworth Road and New Road for ten months. This major work will improve traffic, travel, transport links and road safety in Feltham.

Town centre traffic, including bus routes, has been diverted via Browells Lane and Hanworth Road. Significant delays are expected during peak travel times.
Residents and visitors are advised to revise their route and avoid travelling through the centre of Feltham if they do not need to. Pedestrian and vehicle access to all shops and businesses in the town centre will be maintained.
Prior to the road’s closure, pre-emptive traffic modelling was undertaken by Hounslow Council and Transport for London (TfL) to ensure minimal disruption. The current diversions offer the best solution to keep traffic moving through the town centre, however at peak times there will be significant delays due to the number of vehicles in the area.
Hounslow Council is working closely with TfL to review current bus diversions. Following comments from residents, the council has asked TfL to reconsider the revised southbound H25 route which will see it continue on Bedfont Lane, across the level crossing and then turn right into High Street. It is anticipated this will provide better access for those travelling to the centre of Feltham.
Further to this, Hounslow Council officers are on site monitoring the traffic in the area. TfL is also monitoring traffic and will adjust the signal timings as necessary; this will continue as the traffic patterns change over the coming weeks.
The level crossing is being monitored by British Transport Police who will take action against anyone using the crossing dangerously, potentially causing harm to themselves or others.
Councillor Hanif Khan, Cabinet Member for Transport and Corporate Property, said: “As with any major traffic project, the initial weeks of the closure will no doubt be very disruptive as people adjust to the diversions and revise how and when they access the town centre.
“We are not discouraging people from visiting Feltham town centre, as Feltham is definitely open for business, but those who use Feltham as a through route to elsewhere are being encouraged to reconsider their journey and use alternative routes where possible. Those who need to travel through Feltham are being advised to allow extra time for their journey.
“We have timed the road’s initial closure to coincide with the school half term holidays, when the roads are much quieter, but we expect the roads to become busier next week when schools reopen. We will continue to monitor traffic as the work progresses and minimise disruption wherever we can.”
