Christmas greetings were in the air at the Hounslow Royal Mail Delivery Office, when the Mayor of Hounslow and Leader of Hounslow Council dropped in to say a big ‘Thank You’ at what is the service’s busiest time of the year.
Councillor Ajmer Grewal, Mayor of Hounslow and Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council spoke to Royal Mail staff in a visit this week and saw at first hand the process that takes place to ensure everyone’s cards and gifts are sent to their destinations in time for Christmas.
They were shown around the premises by Alan Hill, Delivery Office Manager and chatted to postmen and women who were busy sorting the huge amount of post for Hounslow residents.
Cllr Grewal said: “There is a huge amount of effort and dedication that goes into delivering a first class Christmas service at Royal Mail’s busiest time of the year.
“It was great to meet the team here at Hounslow. Our postal workers do such an important job all year round and we wanted to thank them for their efforts in ensuring that all the cards, letters and gifts are delivered on behalf of Hounslow residents in time for Christmas.”
The last recommended posting dates for Christmas are:
- Second Class – Tuesday 20 December 2016
- First Class – Wednesday 21 December 2016
- Special Delivery – Thursday 22 December 2016
Mr Hill said: “It was a pleasure to show Cllr Curran and the Mayor of Hounslow around our sorting office and we thank them for their continuing support and appreciation of the hard work our post men and women do.
“We would like to remind customers to post as soon as they can and to make sure to use postcodes as this helps us to deliver them much more quickly.”
