A YouGov poll released in December 2017, commissioned by charity Alcohol Concern, has revealed that an estimated 3.1 million people in the UK are already planning to ditch the booze this January.

Whether joining up to the Dry January campaign is for improving your health in general, looking to lose weight or because you have concerns about the amount of alcohol you drink, help and support is at hand throughout the borough.

Health advisors from One You Hounslow are encouraging anyone with a new year’s resolution to cut down on their alcohol consumption. Help and support is available at the following sessions:

  • Cineworld Feltham, Wednesday 10 January, 1-4pm
  • Hounslow Gurdwara, (Alice Way) Sunday 14 January, 11am – 2pm

Advice is also being given out to people on reducing their alcohol intake and how they can access further information to help them do this via this free mobile app.

There is also an opportunity to find out how you can sign up directly and liaise online with a dedicated health advisor for support generally on a healthy lifestyle and exercise.

Councillor Kamaljit Kaur, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Health Services and Public Health, Hounslow Council, said: “It’s the start of a new year and a great time to make a fresh start on getting fitter and healthier.

“It’s so important to support people and reassure them that there is help out there if they have a problem or they just simply want to get advice on being healthier in general. Remember the result will be a happier and healthier year ahead.”
