On behalf of everyone at Hounslow Council, we would like to wish all our residents a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Our priorities for 2017 will remain the same and despite further cuts to budgets, difficult challenges and tough decisions to make, we are determined we will achieve our vision for the borough and do all we can to protect services for the most vulnerable in our community.
We will continue to support any opportunities for the continuing development of affordable housing in the borough.
For our young people, we want to carry on improving the already high standards of education we have in our schools and ensure there are similar opportunities in further education.
Our aim is to also provide the right platforms for job creation for our residents, which include apprenticeship schemes so that young people and older residents can get on that ladder to employment and learn the skills they need at the same time.
We will continue to tackle the issues that mean the most to you, including fighting crime and fly-tipping and meet targets that will enable Hounslow to be a happy, healthy and prosperous borough in 2017.
Remember to check in on relatives or neighbours that might be on their own at Christmas and stay safe.
I would like to thank in advance, all our emergency services, residents and council staff who will be working over the Christmas and New Year and also thank them for their hard work again over the past 12 months.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Councillor Steve Curran
Leader of Hounslow Council
