Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, has supported the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, in calling on the Chancellor to use the autumn Budget to make sure police and security services have the resources they need to keep the public safe.
At the London Assembly’s Police and Crime Committee this week, the Mayor expressed concern that real term cuts to police funding continue, officer numbers will fall dangerously low and Londoners’ lives will be put at risk.
Councillor Steve Curran said: “Hounslow Council has keeping residents safe, as one of its top priorities and works closely with the Borough’s police on this. We are all too aware of having to cut budgets but feel that in the face of increased terrorism threats it is vital that the police and security services are able to do their vital work effectively.”
