Hounslow is the proud owner of 14 parks and open spaces which have all been awarded the prestigious Green Flag award for 2017/18.

The parks that are presented with the accolade are: Jersey Gardens, Feltham Green, Turnham Green, Dukes Meadows, Boston Manor Park, Beaversfield Park, Bedfont Lakes Country Park, Chiswick Back Common, Lampton Park, St John’s Gardens, Crane Park, Inwood Park, Gunnersbury triangle and Church Road Allotment.

Having the Green Flag is a mark of a quality park or green space. It is a sign that the park or green area is well maintained and has good facilities.

Carillion, which manage the parks on behalf of the council maintain many of the facilities provided, including the play areas, sports facilities, trees, grass and flower beds.  The Council also work in partnership with friends of parks and volunteers from local community groups who put time and effort in ensuring parks are well maintained and shaped to reflect local needs

Hounslow’s green spaces sit among a record-breaking 1,605 parks and open spaces that have received the award this year from around the UK. Visit www.greenflagaward.org.uk/

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Green Policy and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: “Once again this is a fantastic achievement to have 14 parks and open spaces that have all been awarded the Green Flag in our borough. This is the result of our commitment to high standards for our parks and open spaces.

“We are extremely proud and it is a result of the hard work that is carried out by the Council, Carillion and very importantly, the many volunteers from our local community, to help keep the parks and open spaces that are very precious to us, restored and in wonderful condition for everyone to enjoy.

“We are a busy London borough so our parks and open spaces are real jewels in the crown to us.

“The aim is to ensure that they serve our residents and visitors not only now, but for generations to come.”
