An image of people.

Developing a new and ambitious Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion strategy was agreed at a Cabinet meeting earlier this year and included a commitment that it would be shaped by widespread engagement with Hounslow’s communities, partners, and stakeholders.  The Council want to ensure that all people have equal access to opportunity, irrespective of where they live, their identity or background.

Over the next two months, the Council are urging residents to complete an online consultation and will be reaching out extensively to hear as many voices as possible.

As part of this process, the first of four mini events across the borough is being held at Heston Farm Estate this Saturday 30 July, from 12 noon until 4pm.

Cabinet Member for Communities and Equalities Shivraj Grewal commented: “I would urge as many people as possible to engage with this consultation, whether it’s at our events, online or through other opportunities provided by the Council in the coming weeks. We know that inequality is complex and can have overlapping causes. We want to understand why this remains stubbornly entrenched and want you to join the conversation.”

Take part in the Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion survey and join us at one of our events across the borough over the next month:

  • Saturday 30 July, Heston Farm Estate, Fenton House Community Centre, TW5 OUZ: 12 noon - 4pm
  • Sunday 7 August, Clayponds Estate Community Centre, Brentford, W5 4RQ: 12 noon - 4pm
  • Saturday 20 August, Bedfont Community Centre, Southern Avenue, Feltham, TW14 9NB: 12 noon - 4pm
  • Wednesday 24 August, Bridgelink Centre, Ivybridge Estate, Isleworth, TW7 7QR: 12 noon - 4pm

Each event will provide the opportunity for residents to share their views about inequality in addition to participating in family friendly activities.   Doctor Bike will be offering cycle repairs, there will be a chance to meet the local fire brigade and each event will include incentives to take part in the Council’s consultation.

There will also be a host of other opportunities for residents to have their say before the consultation closes at the end of September.  Details will be announced through Council channels and in local media.
