Keeping the crews cool: Waste and recycling collections are starting earlier due to the hot weather.

Weather forecasts predict extreme temperatures for Monday and Tuesday (July 18 and 19). To help our crews avoid the most intense heat during the afternoons, our collection rounds will start earlier on these two days. The crews will start their collections from 5am rather than the normal 7am. If it is your collection day on Monday or Tuesday, please make sure your bin is out by this time. We will review the situation throughout the week. Please pass this message on to your neighbours or anyone you know who may not have access to the internet.

With temperatures expected to hit the high 30s at the start of next week, the Council is also issuing general safety information for residents.

This includes:

  • Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water.
  • Stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm.
  • Wear light clothing.
  • Avoid physical exertion during the hottest parts of the day.
  • Look out for others, especially older people, children and people with underlying health conditions.
