Cllr Samia Chaudhary

Councillor Samia Chaudhary was recently appointed Cabinet Member for Adults and Health Integration at Hounslow Council. She was elected a Councillor in 2014 and represents the Hounslow Heath ward.

  1. One of my proudest achievements during my time as a Councillor is raising money for the local charity CW+ ‘Sun and Stars Appeal’ when I was Mayor. The funds went towards transforming the children’s inpatient wards at West Middlesex University Hospital, which provides vital care to thousands of babies, children and young people every year. The appeal meant a lot to me as I lost my son there and I know first-hand how important it is to have support in place for families. The fundraising efforts meant I got to spend a lot of time with different community groups: I love meeting and listening to residents.
  2. I’ve lived in Hounslow for around 27 years now and I have loved it ever since. I love the rich cultural diversity of the borough; our communities are truly representative of the world. This mix creates a cohesion you don’t see in other places and gives us access to some of the best restaurants, businesses, and events.
  3. One of my favourite places to visit in the borough is Boston Manor Park. It’s a beautiful park with more than 100 years of history, including the new royal crown that was created to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. I regularly visit with my son who loves the nature trail and being close to the canal. In my previous Cabinet role for Leisure Services, I helped drive the regeneration of the park to ensure it remains a hub for the community. It’s so important that residents have such immediate access to these open spaces to boost their physical and mental wellbeing.
  4. The thing I’m really looking forward to in my new role for Adults and Health integration is getting out in the borough and listening to residents’ experiences and concerns. Residents’ voices help the Council understand the challenges they face and what support can be offered to make their lives easier. This includes meeting with our fantastic local community groups and health partners who are on the frontline. I want residents to know we are on their side and working hard to make Hounslow an even greater place to live.
  5. I’m a big fan of Brentford FC, it’s fantastic to have such a community-focussed  professional football club in the borough. I’ve been lucky to attend Brentford games since becoming a councillor and there is always a wonderful family atmosphere around the stadium. I can’t wait for Brentford FC to host some of the Women’s Euros games this summer and I hope the tournament will inspire everyone to keep active and healthy.
