Following the end of the contract by mutual agreement with Carillion, Hounslow Council resumes responsibility for the borough’s library service from today, Tuesday 1 August.

It is business as usual for residents, but there are some new contact details that library users will now need to use to contact the service:

• via email - libraries.helpdesk@hounslow.gov.uk
• by calling - 020 8583 5558 or 020 8583 6561

Information on all library services, including the online catalogue and facility for online renewals, is available online on the council’s website: https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/libraries

All the libraries have remained open during the transfer from Carillion back to the Council. However, due to the need to carry out some staff training as part of the move, the following libraries will close early at 5pm this Thursday (3 August):  Brentford, Chiswick, Cranford, Feltham, Hanworth, Heston, Hounslow, Isleworth and Osterley.

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Green Policy and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: “We believe that by bringing this back in-house, we can further improve what is a very valuable service for our residents and integrate this across our wider leisure and cultural services.”
