Last week, Hounslow Council’s Cabinet unanimously agreed to transfer the management of the Green Lane Sports Group to Lampton Leisure, the Council’s wholly owned leisure services company, in the next 12 to 18 months.

This follows decision made in June for the Council to retake control of the site on an interim basis to ensure that the facilities are maintained to the highest standards and accessible to local people and communities.

Cllr Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, said:

“This is another important step in revitalising this much-loved community asset, ensuring it is accessible to the community that cherish it most.

“We are committed to providing and delivering high-quality leisure and sports facilities across the borough. Green Lane Sports Ground is an important part of our plan to provide the best opportunities for residents to take part in exercise and sport to boost the physical and mental wellbeing of our community.

“Lampton Leisure have already made fantastic steps in improving our Leisure Centres, ensuring they are spaces residents enjoy and feel comfortable using. Residents should have the upmost confidence in them taking over the management of the sports ground at this time.

“We will continue to engage with local teams and other users within the local community so they can help shape how the site and facilities will be run and maintained in the future.”

Since the facilities return to the Council, the main pitch has been completely transformed and refurbished to meet Football Association (FA) standards including floodlighting for evening sports. Work is also underway to improve the facilities and the safety of the Pavilion to operate as a hospitality venue all year round. The Council, in partnership with the Middlesex FA have also introduced a new, transparent, booking and hiring arrangement which gives priority to local groups, teams, and clubs wanting to hire the pitches or clubhouse.

The management of the site will now be transferred from the Council to Lampton Leisure for an initial 18-month period until the agreement of a full business plan is undertaken.

Rowland Omamor, Managing Director of Lampton Leisure, said:

“We are delighted to be taking over the management of the site on behalf of the Council from the beginning of next year.

“We know just how important this site is to the community and we will ensure everyone has fair and equal access all year round. The pitches and facilities at Green Lane bring people together and provide a great opportunity to stay fit and healthy.

“As we take control of the site we are eager to listen and learn from residents about their needs and priorities to ensure Green Lane Sports Ground thrives under Lampton Leisure’s management.”
