Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Services said; “Whilst I’m pleased that the Spending Review has provided new government grant funding for councils over the next three years to keep our vital services ticking over at today's levels, and there is some additional funding to help us improve roads and tackle homelessness and rough sleeping, it is also clear the Chancellor’s budget relies on council tax increases over the next three years to ensure we can continue building a better borough.

I’m particularly disappointed that the Government hasn’t provided additional funding to address the pressure on adult social services - or increased public health funding. The Chancellor also fails to set out a multi-year funding settlement.

Hounslow Council – like all councils that provide vital local services for our communities - needs to be able to plan. That means knowing how we’re going be funded over the next few years. If the Government is serious about levelling up, the Chancellor must work hand in hand with local authorities so we can plan ahead to provide world-class support and local services - ensuring all parts of the country are able to prosper.”
